Frank is one of our band’s fiddlers. Classically trained at school, Frank was leader of the school orchestra, and, as a student, he played for the Combined London Hospitals Orchestra. After a break of playing of nearly 30 years, Frank is now a dedicated folk fiddler. He plays many of the harmonies in our music.
Gordon is our band’s Northumbrian piper. Not a trained musician, but Gordon is interested in many music genres, with a life time love of traditional folk music. He is also in the Stafford Morris Men, where, as well as dancing, he plays melodeon and the pipes ..... but not at the same time!
Lee is our band’s pianist. Classically trained, Lee has been playing the piano since he was six, and plays other music genre, where he is equally competent. The inclusion of a piano in a folk group is unusual, and therefore Lee has composed piano parts for each of our tunes; quite an achievement. He is also our musical director.
John is our band's other fiddler and is also a vocalist. John was also classically trained at school, and played in the Midland Youth Orchestra. He regrets that he also had a long break from playing, but now just loves playing and singing folk music. John is innovative in his playing, adding much variety to our melodies and harmonies.
Linda is our band's other vocalist. She made her singing debut aged five, performing live at Sunday School. At fifteen Linda joined the Cheshire Youth Choir, where she developed a love of traditional and contemporary folk music. Ever since she has been singing with various bands and choirs, in the UK and abroad, and enjoys every minute.
Thomas is our band's VIP sound engineer. Throughout his career as a teacher Thomas performed as a sound engineer for many school productions, and for local theatre groups, in the UK and abroad. A most wonderful asset for The Crooked Bawbees;
what would we do without him?
